The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) met the Colombo Foundation Institute 22th may with the participation of FUTA’s Deputy Secretary General Mahadevan and other foreign observation committee members. Trade Unions of India, Nepal, Bangladesh, South Africa, Malaysia and other countries participated in the event. The meeting was chaired by President of the Inter Company Employees ‘Union, Wasantha Samarasinghe, Secretary Janaka Adhikari, National Organizer of the All Ceylon Trade Union Federation Mahinda Jayasinghe, Chairman Samanthe Korale Arachchi, Chairman of the All Ceylon Medical Officers Union Dr. Asanga Wickramasinghe and Ceylon Bank Employees’ Union , Ceylon Estate Workers’ Union and Ceylon Trade Union federation and number of representatives from the unions participated in the inauguration. Comrade Janaka Adhikari, the Secretary of the Inter Company Employees’ Union said that the purpose of these committees is to formulate common proposals for the pressure on the working class on the world-wide and regional measures.
