All the social forces in the country like working people, farmers, women, youth and students are rallying for that change.
Rejecting the neo-liberal capitalist rulers who divided the people into Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims and consolidated their political power, who divided the people in the country, all nationalities are coming together today and are hoping for a new era and renaissance in the country.
2024 International Workers’ Day became a day when a number of political changes were made in Sri Lanka. There is no doubt that May 1, 2024 will go down in history as a day when the entire people, including the working people of this country, rallied around a left-wing political force and decided to reject the neo-liberal capitalist rotten rule.
Sri Lanka is a beautiful country. But the beauty of that beautiful country has been destroyed little by little by the so-called elite political gang who has implemented the neoliberal economic policies of our country for the past 76 years.
The environment was destroyed and instead of culturally building a man, a morally degraded society was built. The people are rejecting the new liberal economic system that sows racism and bigotry, that does not give a fair share of production to the people, that makes laws so that the labor of women and youth can be exploited more and more, that abolishes the working people’s eight-hour work day, that legislates methods that exploit the working people.
The refusal of the common people to participate in the so-called May Day celebrations of the political parties and groups that people are being deceived was definitely marked on May 1, 2024. It was evident through the May Day celebrations organized by the National People’s Power that the entire people, including the working people of Sri Lanka, are rallying around the National People’s Power and fighting with one spirit for economic democracy and social justice in the country.
